Hey, reader.
I’m glad you’ve found this blog.
You might be wondering, “why did you pick this blog name?” Two reasons: 1) it was available, and 2) it refers to one of my favorite passages in Holy Scripture, Ezekiel 2-3:4, wherein the titular prophet is instructed to eat a scroll handed to him by God. This sums up how we ought to approach reading the Bible. We should consume it as we would food. Chew it, savor it, take it in and allow it to sustain you. You’ll find that it’s quite palatable ― the scroll tasted like honey in Ezekiel’s mouth (3:3) ― even though it may not look appetizing at first.
God speaks to us through Holy Scripture. Before giving the scroll to Ezekiel, God says to him, “son of man, stand up! I wish to speak to you” (2:1). When we come to read and contemplate the scriptures, we respond to God’s wish to speak to us.
I read Holy Scripture in the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) translation published in The Catholic Study Bible (3rd edition) by Oxford University Press.
Enjoy the blog! May God bless you abundantly.
